    DANIEL'S BAPTISM

Over three years ago I had the privilege and opportunity to baptize in water my oldest son, Justin Hayes.  On Sunday, January 27 2008 I had the opportunity to baptize my youngest son, Daniel Wesley.  He is now 8 years old.  I'm a proud daddy.

    BUGSY

On Sunday, January 6th, 2008 at 12:45 PM our dear old family friend passed away.  Bugsy, our 13 year old Boston Terrier had been a part of our family since 1995.  Prior to the 6th Justin and Daniel had never known what life was like without Bugsy.  He was a great pet and is greatly missed.

BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER & MISSIONS CONFERENCE & SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Breakthrough Prayer and Missions Conference was incredible. The theme was Eternity in Mind --- 30 Years and Counting.  It was great to hear about the thirty year history of Calvary Commission, connect with missionaries from around the world and envision the next decade of bringing Hope to the world.  We heard from Dr. Joab Lohara, our India field director, Glenn Clark our Africa field director, Patrice Anaab from Ghana, Africa, reports from missionaries, a live concert from the Zambian Vocal Group, Rev. James Walker, Pastor Leo Miller and Dr. Joe Fauss our founder & director of Calvary Commission.  The services were encouraging, inspiring and challenging. You can check out  www.calvarycommission.org for daily summaries from the conference.

During the conference, Joe Fauss shared the vision for the next decade of Calvary Commission: to hold fast to the values of 30 years but to look to the Holy Spirit to create methods to effectively launch this vision to new powerful levels.  Joe then announced a new position in the structure of Calvary Commission, the Office of Executive Director, to assist the International Director in accomplishing the worldwide vision.  Dr. Fauss continued, “The mantle has fallen on Marty and Lori Thomas”.

We are extremely honored and humbled at the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of Calvary Commission.  As we look to the future we have great anticipation to what God is going to do around the world.  May hope continue to be given to the hopeless, joy to the depressed, salvation to the lost and peace to troubled minds in Jesus name.  Please pray for us as we serve in this new office.

    ROMANIA 2007

    Friday, July 6th, 2007
    Greetings from Romania!
We are having a great time of ministry in Sibiu. This year Sibiu is the Cultural Capital of Europe and there are many people from all over the world visiting. Justin is with me this year and having great a time with dad. He really loved the plane ride over here on Air France. We will take a 6 hour train ride from Sibiu to Timisoara on Monday. We are expecting a wonderful time there too. Below are pictures of our our outreach so far. Hope you enjoy...

    Saturday, July 14th, 2007
Since arriving in Timisoara, Romania last week our team has been involved in relational evangelism through sports ministry, prison services for men and women, held an outdoor youth rally and encouraged the boys of a juvenile center. Today we had a 3 hour Kidz Club complete with puppets, songs, crafts, games and snacks. About 30+ neighborhood children showed up. It was a great time with the children. Sunday we will minister in 2 church services at 2 locations. We will be going home late Monday and be back in Houston Tuesday afternoon.
Thanks for your continued prayers... together we are making a difference...

    TRIBAL MEXICO OUTREACH

Our outreach team returned home late Monday night after 31 hours of continuous driving.  No doubt we were tired the next day... and the next.  Our ministry was to the Mexicans of Tulancingo and the Otomi Indians deep in the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains about 1 hour to the East of Mexico City.  The mountains were breathtaking.  I preached in an Indian village in English to a Spanish interpreter who then preached in Spanish to an Otomi interpreter who then preached in his native language.  It was very interesting.  At the end of my message a precious little 8 year old girl gave her life to Jesus.  It was beautiful!  I look forward to going back again one day.  Calvary Commission has multiple churches in the area.  Below are some pics of the trip.

    2 DAY COFFEE SALE

This past Friday & Saturday we had a coffee sale at several East Texas locations raising funds for our ministry.  We sold Calvary Commission coffee complete with CC's logo and motto "There is Hope".  Flavors included: French Roast, Rainforest Caramel Crunch, French Vanilla, Snickerdoodle and Marty's Blend (that's right).  It was fun (except for the sunburns) and we sold a lot of coffee.  We had help from our friends Katie & Lauren from Houston as well as Nick from Mineola.  Enjoy the pictures.

    ARE YOU SALTY?

On Sunday, April 29th we had the incredible opportunity to be a part of Pottsville Assembly of God's Homecoming event in Arkansas.  This is the church were I felt called into the ministry, served on staff as youth pastor in the early 90's, were Lori and met and were married, and were both Justin and Daniel were dedicated to the Lord as babies.  Seeing old friends and sharing old memories was a special time for us.  I shared a message called "Are You Salty?" in the 2:00pm service.

HOME FROM MEXICO EASTER OUTREACH '07

The Mexico Easter Outreach was awesome!  Our 70 person missions team reached out to local communities, a prison, a juvenile center for boys, and an area called "The Invasion", where the poorest of Reynosa live.  For three intense days we preached the Gospel, shared testimonies, performed dramas, sang songs, gave away beans, rice, and clothing, witnessed door to door and loved on the orphans of the Josiah & Bethany Children's Home.  Through our efforts and the gracious hand of God upon us we made a eternal differnce in Mexico...
